Butser Ancient farm - Autumn celebration of Haust
“Fall has always been my favorite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale.”
― Lauren DeStefano
We have now reached the end of our Summer of Science and Sorcery at Butser Ancient farm and have had an enchanting time along the way!
Our visitors have taken part in many different ancient activities and skills, from sailing in coracles and creating miniature clay roundhouses, to tasting Roman cuisine, Blacksmithing, fire-lighting, candle making, working with nettle fibers and so much more! Thank you to everyone who joined us.
With the arrival of Autumn, be sure not to miss out on our upcoming events. On the 30th of September join us for our Autumn celebration of Haust to welcome the changing of seasons with traditional crafts, demonstrations, and activities. Don’t forget if you have an annual pass you can come to Haust for free! This will be our last weekend opening date of 2018, so don't miss out!
We will be celebrating the most bewitching time of the year Samhain on the 19th of October, with an evening of storytelling and music. Not forgetting in October half term we have an afternoon of Spooky Storytelling with Fayebles, and an after-dark lantern-lit journey around the farm for our Museums at night event.
More storytelling follows on the 9th of November in our newly thatched roundhouse with, "Jack in the blood : The Book of Ancestors". by acclaimed storyteller Jason Buck. This original storytelling performance, aimed at adults and older children, will journey through 2000 years of storytelling tradition - what better location to tell such stories than around the fire in our great roundhouse!
