The zombie apocalypse is coming to Port Solent

On Saturday 16 June, the south’s biggest FREE Comic Con event is returning to Port Solent, with a brand new exciting, interactive zombie experience set to send a chill up the spine of the bravest of people!

Set in a secret underground location at Port Solent, and hosted by Zombie Encounters, guests will be able to fully immerse themselves in the zombie experience which is set out for guests by Zombie Encounters as follows:

After recent construction work unearthed a secret chamber beneath Port Solent, unexplained occurrences attracted the interest of the URF (the Undead Research Foundation). First, building contractors working on the site went missing, then Port Solent staff returning to their cars disappeared, and then finally security staff were attacked by ‘decomposing’ youths. It was at this point that the URF moved in to secure the area and ensure that a viral outbreak of re:animates was contained. Research has uncovered that when Port Solent was built on Horsea Island it covered over an ancient Pagan burial ground. Recent construction opened a burial chamber and re:animates (zombies) were released into the environment. The URF has contained the area but need volunteers to enter the secure zone to ensure that the threat has now been neutralised. The URF needs you! To take part in this research project, come to Port Solent on 16 June and help save human kind.

Port Solent’s Lisa Fowler, said: “With the popularity of the zombie culture constantly on the rise, we’re thrilled to be able to offer our guests this brand new, thrilling experience at this year’s Comic Con. We’ve worked hard to make this year’s event bigger and better and this is a great example of one of the many extra activities we have to offer this year. We hope visitors will get their adrenaline pumping by taking part in this exciting experience and we’re sure Zombie Encounters will make it one to remember.”

Visitors aged 16 and over can take part in the zombie experience. Children over the age of 12 can enter with permission from a parent.

The entry fee will be £5 per person, of which 100% will be donated to Children’s Bubble Fund at Portsmouth’s Queen Alexandra Hospital, supporting the funding of essential equipment needed to give children and their families a more comfortable, positive experience. Previous equipment that has been purchased through this fund includes a blood gas analyser, which rapidly diagnoses and manages the treatment for sick children. The project is currently fundraising for an interactive floor for the Children's outpatient department.

This year’s Comic Con event, in association with GoGeek Events, includes exciting new attractions and evening entertainment for all the family to enjoy, including professional costumers and cosplayers, memorabilia, props and costumes from popular comic books, movies and TV shows, celebrity guest signers, trader stalls, Pokémon tournaments and so much more.
